Larimar City & Resort officially inaugurates the project being designed as the Caribbean's first Smart City

Larimar City & Resort celebrated this Saturday, November 22, the official inauguration of the urban development project that aims to transform tourism in the Dominican Republic — marking the start of what is being positioned as the Caribbean's first Smart City, a vision developed alongside the Spanish company CLERHP.

The event brought together more than 300 guests, including Dominican authorities, representatives of the Spanish government — Mrs. Pilar Serret Murga, Economic and Commercial Counselor — and Mr. Alexander Rodríguez, Mayor of La Otra Banda, along with investors, strategic allies, and international and local media. In fact, more than 30 media outlets have already covered the event, including Estrategias de Inversión and Roberto Cavada, among others.

The ceremony included the official ribbon-cutting and the blessing from the Bishop of La Altagracia, Monsignor Jesús Castro Marte. During his remarks, CLERHP CEO Juan Andrés Romero emphasized that Larimar City "represents a new concept of a modern, efficient, and sustainable city", reaffirming the company's commitment to innovation and the urban transformation of the country's eastern region. The figure of the Monsignor was significant — during his blessing he said: "Just as the Master said — 'Have no fear' — in this country many of us support the project with prayer and with purpose, because we know it is a unique project for everyone."

As part of its social commitment, CLERHP announced the launch of its corporate social responsibility program with the Larimar City Foundation, including a contribution to the FUNEYCA Foundation, intended to support educational and cultural programs aimed at young people in the Punta Cana area through culture and music. In fact, during the event it was the foundation's musicians who performed the national anthems of the Dominican Republic and Spain.

The event concluded with a cocktail reception for attendees and the sunset over the Farallón de Punta Cana.

With this inauguration, Larimar City & Resort and CLERHP mark the formal beginning of a visionary urban development, designed to become a benchmark for innovation, technology, and quality of life in the Caribbean.
