Larimar City & Resort: A City Designed for Living from Day One
Building a city is much more than building homes. It means creating an environment capable of supporting the daily life of those who live in it: being able to buy what you need, have a coffee, play sport, get around, run an errand, receive a package or find the services that make a place stop being merely a real estate development and truly become a city.
That is one of the premises on which Larimar City & Resort is moving forward.
The project was born with an integral vision of a city in which housing, infrastructure, services, commerce, mobility, leisure, wellbeing and community spaces evolve in a coordinated way. For that reason, as residents progressively move in and activity within Larimar increases, its ecosystem of shops and services will grow as well.
The goal is simple: for daily life to unfold within Larimar City.
A city needs much more than homes
When we think of a city, we rarely think only of its buildings. We think of everything that happens between them.
The morning coffee. Buying something we need for the house. Going to a pharmacy. Playing sport after work. Going out to eat, sorting out a banking errand or receiving an online purchase.
They are small everyday actions that, together, build the experience of living in a city.
That is why the progressive rollout of neighbourhood services will be a fundamental part of the growth of Larimar City & Resort.
From the earliest stages of occupancy, the plan contemplates the gradual incorporation of establishments capable of responding to the most common needs of residents, owners, workers and visitors.
A minimarket or neighbourhood supermarket, a pharmacy, cafés, a bakery, dining options or financial services are some examples of activities that can form part of this first ecosystem.
The point is not to set a closed catalogue of establishments, but to develop a commercial offering that can evolve at the same pace as the city itself.
Services to make everyday life easy
Living well also means having what we need close by.
That is why, alongside food, dining and financial services, Larimar contemplates a range of services directly linked to daily life.
A gym or spaces dedicated to fitness and wellbeing will be able to coexist with services such as hairdressing and barbering, laundry and dry cleaning, pet establishments or small home-related shops.
There will also be room for services that are especially useful during the launch and consolidation of the first residential areas, such as a neighbourhood hardware store or shops offering homeware, small appliances and household basics.
Florists, gourmet shops, specialised retailers and new proposals that emerge as the community grows can be added to them.
Because a city is not completed all at once. A city evolves with the people who inhabit it.
Mobility inside and outside Larimar
Mobility is another fundamental element of any city.
Larimar is designed to facilitate both internal journeys and the connection with the Punta Cana area.
Taxi and transfer services, vehicle rental and mobility solutions better suited to short-distance journeys, such as golf carts, motorbikes or bicycles, can be progressively integrated into this ecosystem.
The goal will be to offer different alternatives so that residents and visitors can choose how to get around according to their needs.
Services connecting with strategic points in the surrounding area, including Punta Cana International Airport, will also be especially relevant, making things easier both for those who live permanently in Larimar and for owners who spend certain seasons in the city or those arriving to discover it.
A city also prepared for a new way of living and travelling
New ways of inhabiting cities have also transformed the services that owners and residents demand.
Holiday and short-stay rentals are already part of the reality of many international destinations. For that reason, a professional ecosystem of services related to the management of rental homes can also develop around Larimar.
Companies specialising in property management and holiday rentals, cleaning, maintenance and laundry services, guest care or check-in and check-out management will be able to complement the city's offering.
This will not only make visitors' stays easier, but also provide solutions for owners who do not live permanently in the Dominican Republic and need professional services for the management and upkeep of their homes.
Technology, parcels and administrative services
The needs of a contemporary city go far beyond traditional commerce.
The growth of e-commerce means that services such as couriers, parcels, package reception, printing or small stationery shops are increasingly important in daily life.
Likewise, the plan contemplates that Larimar can bring certain administrative services closer to its residents through spaces or service desks that facilitate errands related to administration and municipal services, in coordination with the corresponding institutions.
The concept is once again the same: bringing services closer to people and simplifying their day-to-day.
Culture and identity: a museum to tell the story of Larimar
But a city is not built through services and shops alone. It also needs identity.
Within this vision there is room for a Larimar Cultural Museum, conceived as a space capable of bringing visitors closer to the territory, culture and identity of the Dominican Republic, as well as to the very process of creating and evolving the city.
A place to discover, learn and share that can also become a meeting point for residents, visitors and new generations.
Culture, architecture, territory and history can thus find a space of their own within Larimar and help build something especially important in any new city: a sense of belonging.
A city that will grow with its inhabitants
Larimar City & Resort will progressively incorporate shops, services and new operators as the project advances and its community grows.
Food, health, dining, sport, banking, mobility, home services, property management, culture and administrative services are some examples of a much broader ecosystem that can keep evolving over time.
Because the true development of Larimar will not be measured only by the number of homes built.
It will also be measured by everything that happens around them.
By the people who live, work, shop, play sport, meet, stroll, start businesses and share their daily lives in the city.
Larimar is a city full of life, where its residents will live the experience from day one. Building that life has been part of the city project from the very beginning, of the conscious urban planning that leads the smart city.
