María José Alcázar's path at CLERHP: an adventure of personal and professional growth
I'm a Building Engineer and have always defined myself as a strong-willed perfectionist. As long as I can remember, I've dreamed of being involved in the building construction process, and through hard work and persistence I've made it here, still excited to keep learning and growing every day.
From the love of building to an international career
My story at CLERHP began almost eight years ago, when I received a job offer that meant moving to Bolivia. I'm not sure exactly why I decided to take that leap, but today I can proudly say it was the best decision of my life. I still remember my arrival in La Paz, where the lack of air at 4,000 meters mixed with the uncertainty of looking for someone holding a sign with my name at the airport. That was the first of many experiences that would shape both my personal and professional life.
Bolivia: the start of a great professional and life adventure
In Bolivia, my role was to resolve questions about structural execution, serve as the link between the Technical Department in Spain and on-site engineers, coordinate modifications with clients, and manage the financial control with subcontractors and clients — always ensuring that what was signed in the contract was honored.
Back to Spain: technical learning and internal growth
Later I had the chance to work in Spain at the Technical Department offices. It was nearly two years during which I delved into structural calculation and gained a deeper understanding of all the work that goes behind an execution drawing. It was an enriching stage, but my desire to travel returned and CLERHP offered me another opportunity: Paraguay. There I could be closer to the construction site, make changes directly on the plans, and provide immediate solutions without the time zone difference being an obstacle.
Paraguay and the Dominican Republic: new challenges, the same drive to learn
Today I'm lucky to be able to travel to the Dominican Republic, where my work focuses primarily on the financial control of all construction. An experience that continues to challenge and teach me every day.
A journey of personal transformation
On a personal level, my time in Bolivia, Paraguay, and now the Dominican Republic has completely transformed me. I could list a long catalog of lessons, but if I had to summarize them I'd say I'm now a much more self-assured person, brave and independent. And most importantly: I've learned to value and to love in every aspect of my life.
Being part of the CLERHP family
What I enjoy most about being part of CLERHP after so many years is feeling part of a big family. It moves me to know that my work contributes to something great and that I'm surrounded by valuable people I learn from every day and who inspire me to keep growing.
This is my story at CLERHP: a path full of challenges, learnings, and experiences that have made me who I am today.
