Meet Esther Cumella
Who is Esther Cumella?
Talking about myself is hard, but I'd say I'm empathetic and communicative — someone who creates a good vibe at work and outside of it. I'm extremely organized, in a German way, to the point that I like to have everything under control.
I've always adapted to the different circumstances of life, living in small towns and in very large cities, in sunny and warm cities, and also in rainy and dark ones. And each of those cities has left something in me, has impacted me positively. I am who I am because of all those varied experiences, because I love to travel and discover new cultures, different ways of working, the local sense of humor, and the food of each place. All of that has contributed to my personal growth, taking me out of what they call "the comfort zone" many times. With all of it, I've managed to take on new professional and personal challenges and goals, building my great team — "the family" — which is, to me, the best in the world, especially since the arrival of the greatest joy of my life: my little one.
What is your role within CLERHP?
I work in accounting and finance for the CLERHP group. I'm responsible for the parent company and some of the subsidiaries, as well as coordinating with the accounting department in the Dominican Republic to reconcile intercompany balances, which we later have to consolidate during the semi-annual audits we file as a publicly listed company on the BME. In the end, it's a very organization-, communication-, coordination-, analysis-, and execution-heavy job between group companies. And personally and professionally, that has helped my growth at CLERHP enormously.
Basically, in short, I'm responsible for the company's financial management, and for ensuring that the company maintains strong financial health and complies with regulations.
What captivated you about Larimar City & Resort?
Well, I joined CLERHP more than 7 years ago to build the internal finance department, which until then had been outsourced to a financial consultancy. Being there coordinating it from the start and helping structure it was an opportunity that, looking back, I'm hugely grateful for. Because getting someone to give you that level of trust isn't easy.
The growth and change we've experienced — those of us who work here since then — has been amazing. Personally and professionally, I feel very proud to be part of this project with Juan Andrés's vision, and to have helped take the company to where it is today.
And the biggest example of all is, in my view, Larimar City. It's not just a development — it's a city in the middle of paradise, where green spaces and energy efficiency are prioritized in a sustainable way for the environment. It's a beautiful place with incredible views, offering leisure, sports, and health, featuring man-made beaches, infinity pools, a seaside promenade, restaurants where you can watch stunning sunrises and sunsets. I suppose I'm like everyone else here: looking forward to seeing the first building completed and what life is like there.
