Larimar City lends its name to the 47th National Old-Timers Cup of Dominican Baseball
Larimar City & Resort continues to strengthen its commitment to Dominican sport as the main sponsor of the 47th edition of the National Old-Timers Tournament of Dominican Baseball, a competition that this year is held under the name Copa Larimar City.
The tournament brings together former professional players who were part of major teams in the Dominican League and in Major League organizations. Today, many of them remain connected to baseball as players, coaches and managers of their respective teams, helping to keep alive the legacy of one of the most representative sports of the Dominican Republic.
Among the leading figures of the championship is Raúl Bonilla, who played for the Montreal Expos in Major League Baseball and currently chairs the Old-Timers of National and Caribbean Baseball.
Bonilla stressed the importance of having the backing of companies such as Larimar City to guarantee the continuity of this type of competition, to recognise the careers of those who made history in baseball and to keep promoting the sport among the new generations.
The regional champions meet at the Copa Larimar City

The national stage of the competition brings together teams that had previously been crowned champions in their respective regions, after coming through tournaments with high participation from clubs across different provinces of the country.
The Sajoma team earned its place after winning the Cibao regional competition, in which eleven teams from various provinces took part.
Los Cangrejeros, for their part, were crowned champions of the South region after prevailing in a tournament made up of nine teams.
These results reflect the national scope of the competition and the sporting level of the participating clubs, managed and made up of former professional players with extensive careers in Dominican and international baseball.
The team that is crowned champion will also have the opportunity to represent the Dominican Republic at the Old-Timers World Championship to be held in Fort Myers, Florida, as well as at the First Old Time World Classic, planned on Dominican soil.
Recognition of Larimar City’s commitment

During the opening day, Rosa Sancho Castillo, Director of Protocol and Events at Larimar City, together with Johanna Sánchez, from the Administration department, threw the ceremonial first pitch as the institutional representation of the project.
As part of the celebration, Larimar City received the Golden Bat for Business Excellence, the highest distinction awarded by the organisation, in recognition of its support for the tournament and its contribution to promoting the national sport.
This recognition highlights Larimar City’s involvement in initiatives that foster participation, community, well-being and the development of local communities.
Sport as part of the Larimar lifestyle
The sponsorship of the National Old-Timers Cup is part of Larimar City’s vision of promoting a healthy lifestyle connected to the values of sport.
Discipline, effort, teamwork, self-improvement and respect are principles shared by baseball and by the philosophy of Larimar City & Resort, a project conceived to offer a new way of living in the Dominican Republic.
Larimar City integrates residential spaces, sports areas, green areas, services, leisure and well-being within a destination city designed so that people can enjoy an active, balanced life in contact with nature.
Through this kind of collaboration, Larimar City also reaffirms its commitment to the country brand, supporting one of the great cultural and sporting symbols of the Dominican Republic and helping to project the country’s talent, identity and values internationally.
The Copa Larimar City therefore represents much more than a competition. It is a meeting point between generations, a celebration of the history of Dominican baseball and an opportunity to recognise those who have helped make this sport an essential part of the national identity.
